A bamboo bedside lamp knitted by hand, with the shade open at the top and bottom so light goes up the wall as well as down onto the table. It runs off a USB plug rather than being wired in, and it is properly bright at up to 2000 lumens, covering a room of roughly 5 to 10 square metres. Where a rattan lamp earns its place

Woven shades have a habit of being bought for bedrooms and then ending up somewhere else, because the light they throw suits a room you sit in rather than a room you sleep in. This one is bright enough for a dining table, a hallway console or a reading corner, which is not true of most decorative woven lamps. The open weave puts a soft pattern on the ceiling, and because the shade is open at both ends you get usable downward light too. Common Questions

Is a bulb included? The supplier says one thing in the description and the opposite in the spec sheet, so do not count on it. Budget for an E27 LED bulb and you will not be caught out.

What does the three white tones option mean? The bulb switches between warm, neutral and cool white. The cheaper option gives you warm white only, which is the one most people end up leaving it on anyway.

Does it plug into the wall or into USB? USB. There is no mains adapter in the box, so use a phone charger or a spare USB socket.

Does it dim? No. It is on or off, with the colour temperature switch on the three tone version doing the only adjusting.

Will the bamboo look identical to the photo? Close, but not exact. It is knitted by hand from a natural material, so the weave tightness and the colour tone vary a little between pieces.
