A wooden CD player for a desk or a shelf, built to send sound out to whatever you already own: a Bluetooth speaker, a hi-fi over optical, or headphones straight from the front. Real wood case, translucent dust cover, remote in the box.

What you get

  • Plays CD, CD-R and CD-RW, including MP3 discs
  • Bluetooth 5.1 transmitter, so it sends audio to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones
  • Optical output for a hi-fi or soundbar, plus a 3.5mm headphone socket
  • USB playback of MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC files from a memory stick
  • Wood case, 157 by 131 by 28mm, 310g, with a remote, manual and USB cable

A CD player that fits how people actually listen now

Most CD players assume you own a stereo. This one assumes you own a Bluetooth speaker, which for most people is the true state of things. The Bluetooth here sends rather than receives, so the disc plays and the sound arrives at the speaker across the room with no cable. Wood is doing a job too: a dense case damps the vibration a spinning disc makes.

Common Questions

Does it have a speaker built in? It does not, and that is the main thing to know before you order. It is the source rather than the whole stereo, so it needs a speaker, a hi-fi or headphones to be heard.

Does it come with a plug? No mains adapter in the box, though the USB cable is there. It runs on 5V over USB-C, so a phone charger plug or a laptop port is all it needs.

Can I stream to it from my phone? Not this one. Its Bluetooth sends sound out, it does not take it in.

What is the difference between the two versions? One includes a fibre optic cable for the optical output and one does not. Pick the one with the cable unless you already own a spare optical lead.

What goes with it? The dust cover keeps it clean on a shelf, and the rest of the room tech is in Gadgets and Tech with more lighting in LED Lights and Lamps.
