This Nordic glass pendant light is a hand blown glass shade on a Bauhaus inspired fitting, made for hanging over a dining table, a kitchen island or a bedside. Each shade is blown at high temperature, so small bubbles and slight variations in the glass are part of it rather than a fault.

Why hand blown glass looks different to moulded

Moulded glass is perfectly uniform, which sounds like a good thing until you see it lit. Hand blown glass has slight thickness variations, so the light through it is uneven in a way that reads as warm rather than flat. The small bubbles catch the filament. It is the whole reason to choose glass over a fabric or metal shade.

Common Questions

Does it come with a bulb? No, it takes a standard E27, which is the most common fitting in the UK and cheap to buy anywhere. A warm white LED suits it best.

Is it hard to fit? It comes as a kit with instructions and the cord is adjustable, but it wires into a ceiling rose. If you are renting or not confident with electrics, get an electrician to hang it, which is usually a fifteen minute job.

Why does the glass have tiny bubbles in it? Because it is genuinely hand blown. Every shade is slightly different, and the retaining ring covers any small edge marks once it is up.

How big a space will it light? Around 5 to 10 square metres, so it suits a dining table, a bedside or a corner rather than lighting a whole living room on its own.
