A mouse pad that is really a desk protector

Fabric mats absorb whatever you spill. This one does not, which changes what a desk mat is for. It stops mug rings, pen marks, hot plates and the scratches that ruin a laminate desk within a year, and it still works as a full width mouse surface. If you rent and the desk came with the room, that is the deposit.

How do I clean it? A dry cloth for dust, a damp one for anything worse. Liquid sits on the surface rather than soaking in, so you have time to get to it.

Is 120 by 50cm going to fit? Measure first. It suits a 140cm desk or wider. On a 120cm desk it covers the whole surface edge to edge, which some people want and some find too much.

Is it good for gaming? It is smooth and fast, though cloth gives a gaming mouse a touch more control at the end of a long swipe. This one wins on everything else the desk has to survive, so if that includes coffee, it is the better buy. For pure control, the black waves cloth mat goes to 100 by 50cm.

Does it smell of plastic? Faintly for a day or two out of the packaging, then not at all.
