This axolotl night light is a soft silicone bedside lamp you turn on by squeezing it, which is the reason it works for toddlers who cannot manage a switch. It is 20cm, rechargeable, and there is a 20 minute timer so it turns itself off once someone has fallen asleep.

Why a squeezable bedside light suits a child's room

A night light only helps if the child can work it themselves at three in the morning. A squeeze is the one action a half asleep toddler can manage without finding a switch in the dark, and because the whole body is soft silicone there is nothing to knock over or break if it ends up on the floor. It also doubles as something to hold, which is half the reason these get adopted properly.

Common Questions

How bright is it? Two levels, both gentle. It is a soothing glow for falling asleep rather than a light to read a bedtime story under. For reading, the clip book light is the one that does that job properly.

Does it need batteries? No, it has a 1200mAh rechargeable battery built in and the USB cable is in the box.

Is the silicone safe? Yes, BPA free and certified to CCC, CE, FCC and RoHS. It runs at 3V, so there is nothing hot and nothing sharp.

What is the timer for? Set it and the light switches itself off after 20 minutes, so it is not burning through the charge all night once everyone is asleep.

Is there a matching one? There is a capybara and a cat in the same silicone range.
